Zrinski Bridge, Road bridge between Goričan, Croatia and Letenye, Hungary
Zrinski Bridge is a road bridge connecting Goričan in Croatia with Letenye in Hungary, spanning the Mura River. The structure stretches 216 meters (708 feet) and comprises two parallel carriageways linking the Croatian A4 and Hungarian M7 motorways.
The bridge was completed in 2008 as the final piece of the Budapest-Zagreb-Rijeka motorway route, which took four decades to develop. This connection established a continuous transport corridor linking Hungary, Croatia, and the Adriatic coast.
The bridge takes its name from the House of Zrinski, a noble family whose influence shaped both Croatian and Hungarian lands during the medieval period, keeping their legacy visible through regional landmarks.
A joint border checkpoint is located at the bridge to handle international crossings and provide direct access to both motorway networks. Travelers should note that crossing requires proper travel documents as this is an international boundary.
The bridge was built as a joint venture between Croatia and Hungary, with construction expenses split equally between the two nations. This cooperative funding approach reflects the coordinated infrastructure development that enabled the entire motorway corridor to be completed.
