Gesztenyéskert

Gesztenyéskert is a park in District XII with a central alley of horse chestnut trees running through expansive green spaces. The grounds feature playgrounds, jogging paths, designated dog areas, and fountains distributed across the site.

The park was created in 1984 following construction of the Budapest Congress Center, with trees preserved from the former Németvölgyi cemetery. This transformation turned a burial ground into a public green space for community use.

Monuments throughout the park honor those who fought for independence, serving as quiet places where visitors come to reflect on local history. The presence of these memorials shows how the community uses this green space to remember important moments.

The park is easily accessible and well-suited for jogging, children's activities, and walking dogs throughout the grounds. Drinking fountains and paths are placed conveniently for comfortable exploration.

A bronze sculpture called 'Kettős gömb' by László Paizs from 1985 stands near the Congress Center and depicts two overlapping spheres. This artistic installation is a distinctive feature that many visitors overlook while exploring the grounds.
