Prestige Hotel Budapest, hotel in Budapest, Hungary
Prestige Hotel Budapest is a hotel in the heart of the Hungarian capital, housed in a 19th-century building on Vigyázó Ferenc Street near the Danube. The lobby features dark polished floors, chandeliers and velvet seating, while the rooms have wooden floors and contemporary furnishings.
The building dates to the 1860s, when it was put up as a residential property in what was then a rapidly growing part of the city. It changed uses several times before reopening as a hotel in 2015 after a major renovation.
The building retains decorative details from the 19th century that are still visible in the lobby and along the facade. Walking through the entrance gives a sense of how this part of central Budapest looked in a different era.
The hotel is within walking distance of a metro station and several bus stops, making most of the city easy to reach on foot or by public transport. Guests arriving by car can reserve a parking spot in advance, and airport transfers can be arranged on request.
The hotel is home to Costes Downtown, one of a small number of restaurants in Budapest to hold a Michelin star, which operates separately from the hotel itself. A reservation is worth making well in advance, as tables fill quickly regardless of whether guests are staying at the hotel.
