Ódry Színpad

Ódry Színpad is a theatre in Budapest's eighth district that serves as a teaching venue for students of the University of Theatre and Film Arts. The building hosts multiple theatrical works each academic year, performed by and featuring students in various roles both on stage and behind the scenes.

This theatre began in 1959 when a former building used by a Christian youth organization was repurposed as a performance space for the university. The conversion of the structure, which had previously held offices and a chapel, reflected a shift toward supporting theatrical education and public performances in the district.

This venue serves as a working laboratory where students of the University of Theatre and Film Arts test ideas through live performances in front of audiences. Visitors witness emerging actors and directors working with scripts that span from established classics to newly written pieces, reflecting how young artists engage with both tradition and new theatrical voices.
