Palais Lánchíd

Palais Lánchíd is an office building with classical proportions and symmetrical facades decorated with carved stone details and large windows in regular patterns across multiple floors. The structure displays Renaissance Revival features with carefully crafted details shaping its entire appearance.

Architect Miklós Ybl designed this building in the late 1800s when Budapest underwent major urban development and renewal. The construction was part of a broader movement that established the city as a European center of importance.

The building shows how Renaissance ideas were mixed with Hungarian building traditions of the 1800s, visible in its decorated details and room layouts. It reflects how Budapest blended European styles with local approaches during that period.

This building sits at the base of Buda Castle in a UNESCO World Heritage area next to the Chain Bridge. The location is easy to reach on foot and offers views of the Danube and surrounding historic structures.

The International Investment Bank selected this building as its headquarters in 2020 while keeping its original office function unchanged. This makes it one of the few Renaissance Revival buildings in Budapest that maintained its original use to the present day.
