Simalungun Museum, Cultural heritage museum in Pematangsiantar City, Indonesia

The Simalungun Museum occupies a building on Jalan Sudirman in Pematangsiantar, constructed between April and December 1939. Its collection of 866 ethnographic and archaeological objects includes the megalithic stone statue Silapalapa from Partuanon Hutabayu Marubun, Pustaha Laklak bark manuscripts, weaving tools, gold and silver jewellery, and coins. The museum also serves as a centre for Simalungun artists.

The institution was founded in 1939 and has since preserved materials that document the Simalungun communities in North Sumatra. Over the decades, the collection has grown to record how local craftsmanship and living practices evolved.

The collection displays traditional dress and household objects that reflect how the Simalungun people conducted daily life and marked important occasions. Walking through, visitors can observe the craftsmanship and materials that were central to the community's way of living.

The museum is at Jalan Sudirman No. 20 in Proklamasi, West Siantar, Pematangsiantar. It is open daily from 8 am to 4 pm except on national holidays. Guides can be hired for a more detailed explanation of the collection.

Among the exhibits are specialized tools that reveal how the Simalungun adapted and refined agricultural techniques over time. These objects show practical problem-solving approaches that were developed and refined through generations of farming experience.
