Gang Bengkok Old Mosque, Historic mosque in Kesawan district, Medan, Indonesia.
The Gang Bengkok Old Mosque stands on Jalan Mesjid with a main prayer hall featuring traditional Malay ceiling decorations and Persian-influenced entrance gates.
Construction of the mosque started in 1874 under the supervision of Chinese merchant Tjong A Fie and completed in 1889 before transfer to the Deli Sultanate.
The mosque architecture combines Chinese and Malay design elements, with interior decorations including the Lebah Bergantung ceiling pattern typical of Malay structures.
The prayer facility accommodates 2000 worshippers and maintains regular activities including daily prayers, Quran studies, and Ramadan evening meals for the community.
The land for this mosque was donated by Haji Muhammad Ali, known as Datuk Kesawan, while the construction costs came from Chinese merchant Tjong A Fie.
