Bunratty Castle, Medieval castle in County Clare, Ireland
The stone fortress contains four levels of chambers, halls, and living quarters connected by spiral staircases within thick defensive walls.
The current structure, built in 1425 by the MacNamara clan, stands on a site that previously held three other castles since Viking times.
The furnished rooms display period tapestries, paintings, and furniture representing daily life of Irish nobility during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Located near Shannon International Airport, the castle offers guided tours daily from 9 AM to 5 PM with last admission at 4 PM.
The Great Hall features a collection of medieval weapons including longbows, battleaxes, and carved wooden shields bearing family crests.
