Knappogue Castle

Knappogue Castle is a stone tower house in County Clare with multiple rooms furnished to show how people lived across different historical periods. The structure contains original architectural features and period pieces that can be explored during guided visits.

The castle was built in 1467 and served as a defensive stronghold during the Irish Confederate Wars until it was taken over during the Cromwellian invasion. These conflicts shaped its role as a military post in a period of upheaval.

The castle hosts medieval banquets where visitors enjoy traditional Irish music and local cuisine in the grand dining hall. These events keep alive the way the fortress once served as a gathering place for celebration and community.
