Manderley Castle, Victorian castle in Killiney, Ireland
Manderley Castle is a Victorian-era residence in Killiney, south of Dublin, built across three floors with turrets topped by battlements. The property includes pointed arch windows and landscaped grounds that extend across fourteen thousand square meters.
Robert Warren commissioned the castle in 1840 to commemorate Queen Victoria's coronation, originally naming it Victoria Castle. The name changed when subsequent owners acquired the property and gave it its current designation.
The estate carries its present name from the fictional manor in Daphne du Maurier's novel Rebecca, chosen by Irish musician Enya. This literary reference mirrors the quiet and withdrawn character the property holds today.
The castle remains a private home with heightened security and no public access is permitted. The area is reachable by public transport or car from Dublin in roughly 30 minutes.
A now sealed underground passage once linked the grounds directly to Killiney Beach. This corridor formerly offered residents a private route to the sea without leaving the estate.
