Maumturks, Mountain range in Connemara, Ireland.
The Maumturks extend over 25 kilometers from northwest to southeast, featuring numerous quartzite peaks with the highest point reaching 702 meters in elevation.
During the 1653 Act of Settlement, this area remained untouched as Oliver Cromwell deemed the rocky terrain and mountainous landscape unsuitable for agriculture.
The name Maumturks derives from the Irish 'Sléibhte Mhám Toirc', which translates to 'mountains of the boar's pass' in the English language.
The University of Galway Mountaineering Club organizes an annual challenge where participants complete the entire 25-kilometer range traverse in one day.
The central section of Máméan contains a pilgrimage site with a connection to Saint Patrick, situated within a deep valley between the peaks.
