Letterbreckaun rises to 667 meters within the Maamturks mountain range, featuring exposed quartzite formations and steep slopes on multiple sides.

The mountain received its name from Saint Brecan, a religious figure who succeeded Saint Enda from the Aran Islands during early Christian times.

Local hiking groups maintain the tradition of completing the Maamturks Challenge, incorporating Letterbreckaun as the second highest peak in their journey.

The ascent from the southern parking area requires approximately two hours of climbing through marked paths and crossing multiple elevation changes.

Letterbreckaun ranks as Ireland's 167th highest peak and contains specific geological formations from the Bennabeola Quartzite period.
