Cong, Medieval village between County Mayo and County Galway, Ireland.

Cong sits on an island shaped by streams, positioned on the narrow land connection between Lough Corrib and Lough Mask lakes.

The Synod of Ráth Breasail in 1111 established Cong as one of five dioceses in Connacht before its territory transferred to Tuam archdiocese.

The village gained international recognition as the filming location for the 1952 film The Quiet Man, with scenes filmed at Ashford Castle.

Visitors can explore the Cong Nature Trail, a 2.3-kilometer loop through Cong Woods featuring native trees and Redwood specimens.

The Monk's Fishing House extends over Lough Corrib, where medieval monks from Cong Abbey caught fish through a hole in the floor.
