Staigue stone fort, Stone ringfort in County Kerry, Ireland
The circular stone fort measures 27 meters in diameter with walls reaching 5.5 meters in height and 4 meters thick at the base.
Built between 300 and 400 AD, this defensive fortress served as a stronghold for local rulers during the late Iron Age period in Ireland.
The structure represents early Irish architectural techniques, constructed entirely with local sandstone blocks without using mortar to hold them together.
Located 18 kilometers west of Sneem on the Iveragh peninsula, visitors can access the site through a designated parking area nearby.
Within the walls, two underground chambers and multiple stone stairways lead to elevated terraces offering views of Kenmare Bay.
