Blarney Stone, Mythical stone at Blarney Castle, Ireland.

The limestone block sits in the battlements of the castle tower at 37 feet above ground in County Cork.

The stone became part of the castle structure in 1446 when Dermot MacCarthy, King of Munster, ordered its construction.

Queen Elizabeth I created the word 'blarney' to describe the diplomatic responses of Cormac MacCarthy during their political negotiations.

Visitors climb 127 steps to reach the stone and lean backward with staff assistance to perform the traditional kissing ritual.

International figures including Winston Churchill, Mick Jagger, and Ronald Reagan traveled to kiss the stone for its reported gift of eloquence.
