The Mardyke, Entertainment venue in Cork, Ireland

The Mardyke is the main sports campus of University College Cork, at the western end of the Mardyke area near Cork city centre. It has three main pitches, including the natural-grass Prunty pitch, home of UCC Sport since 1911, and a floodlit water-based synthetic pitch for hockey and soccer. The eight-lane, 400m Sonia O'Sullivan Athletics Track encircles the synthetic pitch, and the Mardyke Arena indoor centre opened in 2001.

The grounds were formed from the western part of Cork Park, whose eastern remainder is now Fitzgerald's Park. In 1904 Cork Constitution and Cork County leased the Western Pitch, and UCC took over the lease in 1911 and bought the grounds outright in 1912. The River Lee burst its banks on 19 November 2009, damaging the facilities; the Mardyke Arena reopened on 15 February 2010 after repairs costing €4m.

The grounds take their name from the Mardyke area at Cork's western edge, and the pitches sit beside the North channel of the River Lee, where kayakers train. The athletics track was named for Sonia O'Sullivan in 2013, after the original track was ruined by the November 2009 flood.

The grounds sit at the western end of the Mardyke area, near Cork city centre, with the North channel of the River Lee alongside for kayak training. The Sonia O'Sullivan track was closed in 2024 for a complete resurfacing, so check its status before planning a session. The Prunty pitch has floodlights and covered stands for over 800 spectators.

On 3 July 1984 the Mardyke athletics track hosted a hammer throw competition in which the world record fell six times in a single evening, set by Yuriy Sedykh and Sergey Litvinov. The eight-lane, 400m track was renamed the Sonia O'Sullivan Athletics Track in 2013.
