Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut

Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut is a town between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem that spreads across gentle hills. Residential districts surround a central business core with offices, shops and service facilities.

Here in the second century before the common era began the revolt against Hellenistic rule, which later gave rise to a Jewish royal dynasty. The present town was established in the nineties as a planned settlement on this historic ground.

The name comes from the biblical village of Modiin, where the rebel Maccabees are said to have lived. Today the town brings together religious and secular residents who share parks, shopping areas and community centers.

Several highways link the town to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, while a train station offers regular rail connections to both cities. Shopping centers and public facilities sit mostly in the central core, reachable on foot or by local buses.

More than half the municipal area consists of green spaces, parks and natural hills that shape the townscape. Paths and cycle routes connect residential districts to these open areas, making walks in nature easier.
