Nir David, kibbutz in Israel
Nir David is a kibbutz located in the Valley of Springs region, in the north of Israel. The grounds bring together residential buildings, farmland, and communal facilities in a compact and walkable layout.
The kibbutz was founded in 1936 as part of the early wave of cooperative agricultural settlements in the region. It grew and changed over the following decades while keeping many of the founding ideas in place.
The name Nir David comes from the Hebrew word for pasture, reflecting the agricultural roots of the settlement. Today, visitors walking through the grounds can still see working farmland alongside everyday communal spaces like shared dining areas and gardens.
The different areas of the kibbutz are close to each other and easy to explore on foot without needing a map or guide. Bringing water is a good idea, especially during warmer months when the sun can be strong throughout the day.
Nir David was established close to the Harod River, one of the few year-round flowing rivers in the region. This proximity to running water shaped the way the farmland was laid out from the very beginning and is still visible in the landscape today.
