Carmel Hai-Bar Nature Reserve

The Carmel Hai-Bar Nature Reserve spans 1,500 acres of Mediterranean forest terrain, maintaining numerous native and endangered animal species within protected enclosures.

Founded in 1973 under General Avraham Yoffe's direction, this reserve initiated a program to return extinct species to Israel's northern Mediterranean environment.

The reserve functions as an educational center where visitors learn about Israeli wildlife preservation through guided tours and research programs.

Located near Haifa University, the reserve charges entrance fees of 22 NIS for adults and 9 NIS for children, operating daily in August and weekends year-round.

Persian fallow deer populations at the reserve grew from near extinction to 300 individuals through dedicated breeding programs and international wildlife exchanges with Iran.
