Elazar, Community settlement in Gush Etzion, Israel
Elazar is a community settlement in the Gush Etzion region, located on hills south of Jerusalem at an elevation of approximately 910 meters. The settlement spreads across the terrain with residential areas, communal facilities, and connecting roads throughout its boundaries.
North American and English immigrants established this settlement in 1975 as an outpost in the region. It was reorganized into a communal settlement format in 1990.
The community follows a National Religious character, and you will see residents engaged in regular communal gatherings and study programs. These activities shape daily interactions and bonds between neighbors.
The settlement connects to Jerusalem and surrounding areas through Highway 60, which is undergoing improvements for better access. The terrain is hilly, so visitors should be prepared for walking on uneven ground.
Young people from the community built a memorial garden called Helkat haGevurah using their own resources. This space honors community members affected by conflicts in the region.
