Palace Hotel, Jerusalem

The Palace Hotel is a four-story building on Agron Street with limestone walls, arched windows, and decorative floral carvings throughout. Geometric patterns cover the facade, creating a distinctive appearance that defines the structure's character.

The Supreme Muslim Council built the Palace Hotel in 1929, incorporating Turkish architectural designs by architects Ahmet Kemmaledin and Mehmed Nehad. The project represented a significant investment in Jerusalem's urban development during that era.

The building blends Ottoman, Greco-Roman, and Moorish architectural elements visible in its arched windows and geometric details. Visitors can sense how these styles reflect the different cultures that shaped Jerusalem in the early 20th century.

Workers discovered ancient Muslim graves during construction in 1928 beneath where the building would stand. These remains were relocated at night to prevent construction delays.
