תיאטרון פרגוד, Cultural center in Nachlaot district, Jerusalem, Israel
The Pargod Theatre occupies a building at the intersection of Bezalel and Nissim Bechar streets, featuring a cave-like basement that previously served as a stable.
Founded in 1969 by Arie Mark, the Pargod Theatre operated as a fringe cultural institution until 2005, when it closed following a court order.
The theatre hosted jazz concerts throughout the 1970s and 1980s, with pianist Danny Gottfried establishing a tradition of regular jam sessions.
Jerusalem Municipality plans to transform the abandoned building into an art complex for young artists with an investment of 2.3 million shekels.
The basement space of the theatre contains remnants of its previous functions as a Turkish hammam and water cistern.
