Clal Center

The Clal Center is a modern office tower on Jaffa Road in Jerusalem with 15 stories and a height of about 56 meters (184 feet). Inside, it houses a shopping mall, office spaces, and various service areas that make it a multifunctional urban hub.

The building opened in 1972, replacing the Alliance Vocational School campus, which had been Jerusalem's first Jewish trade school since 1882. This shift from educational institution to modern business center reflects Jerusalem's urban transformation in the second half of the 20th century.

The building's name comes from a Hebrew word reflecting its role as a commercial and administrative center, showing how modern business structures fit into Jerusalem's urban identity. Visitors observe daily how workers, shoppers, and people conducting official business use the spaces throughout the day.

The location sits directly on Jaffa Road and is easily reached by public transportation, with clear entry points to different areas of the complex. Inside you find stores, offices, and government services, so many daily errands can be handled in one place.

The interior features an atrium that was originally open to the sky but was later covered to shield people from weather and elements. This change shows how the climate conditions in Jerusalem shaped the design of modern urban spaces.
