Jaipur International Airport is an aerodrome in the Sanganer district, located about 10 kilometers (6 miles) south of the city center, serving both domestic and cross-border connections. The facility includes multiple terminals with gates for arrivals and departures, as well as areas for baggage handling and passenger screenings.
Operations began in the mid-1950s as a small airfield primarily used for regional flights within India. Expansion to accommodate international flights took place in the early 2000s, which significantly increased the facility's importance for tourism in Rajasthan.
The aerodrome serves as a gateway to the pink city, where visitors often gain their first impressions of Rajasthan's architectural heritage through the terminal design. Local craft shops inside the terminal area display miniature paintings and textiles typical of the regional artisan tradition.
