Albert Hall Museum, State museum in Ram Niwas Garden, Jaipur, India
Albert Hall Museum is a state institution in Ram Niwas Garden, Jaipur, India, with exhibition spaces for art and history. The complex spans several floors with vaulted passageways, central courtyards, and stonework on facades and pillars.
The building was planned after Prince Albert Edward visited in 1876 and opened its doors more than a decade later. Architect Samuel Swinton Jacob designed the structure in a style that blends European and Indian construction elements.
The halls display miniature paintings, pottery, musical instruments, and carpets crafted by local artisans over several generations. Visitors also see traditional puppet theatre figures and jewelry still worn during regional festivals today.
The site is open daily from 9 in the morning until 5 in the evening, with separate entry rates for Indian and international visitors. Photography is allowed in most rooms, but flash should be avoided to protect delicate items.
One gallery houses an Egyptian mummy from the Ptolemaic period, which ranks among the rare finds of this kind in India. This part of the collection draws many visitors interested in ancient burial practices outside the local tradition.
