Jaivana Cannon, Large-caliber cannon at Jaigarh Fort, India
The Jaivana Cannon extends 20 feet in length, weighs 50 tons, and features ornate designs including carved elephants, peacocks, and ducks along its barrel.
Constructed in 1720 during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, this cannon was fired only once, using 100 kilograms of gunpowder with a reported range of 35 kilometers.
The cannon represents the military engineering capabilities of 18th-century India and stands as a symbol of Rajputana technological advancement at Jaigarh Fort.
Visitors can examine the cannon's rotating mechanism, which allows for 360-degree movement, and observe the original lifting crane still present at the fort.
The barrel dimensions vary from 2.2 meters at the tip to 2.8 meters at the rear, with a specialized elevating screw measuring 776 millimeters for angle adjustments.
