Jaigarh Fort, Military fort in Amber, Jaipur, India
The sandstone fortress extends across three kilometers on the Hill of Eagles, featuring thick defensive walls and a central watchtower overlooking the landscape.
Raja Jai Singh II constructed the fort in 1726 to safeguard the Amer Fort complex, establishing it as a crucial military stronghold in Rajasthan.
The fort houses two ancient temples, including the Ram Harihar temple from the 10th century and the Kal Bhairav temple from the 12th century.
The fort complex remains open from 9:00 to 18:30 daily, with entrance fees of 150 rupees for Indian nationals and 200 rupees for international visitors.
The Jaivana, manufactured in 1720 within the fort, measures 20.19 feet in length and stands as the largest wheeled cannon of its time.
