Jaipur district, Administrative district in Rajasthan, India

Jaipur district is an administrative region in Rajasthan centered on the city of Jaipur, one of India's major urban centers. It comprises 16 administrative subdivisions with varied landscapes ranging from densely built areas to agricultural communities and villages.

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II founded Jaipur in 1727 as India's first planned city with geometric street layouts. The district grew as an important administrative and trading center following this strategic establishment.

Artisans throughout the district practice traditional crafts like textile printing, metalwork, and stone carving, visible in workshops and markets. These skills have been passed down through families for generations and shape daily life in communities beyond the main city.

The region becomes very hot from April to July with temperatures exceeding 40°C (104°F), while winters from December to February remain cool and mild. Pack accordingly and plan visits during cooler months if possible.

The capital's buildings received a uniform pink coating in 1876 for a royal visit, earning it recognition as The Pink City. This distinctive color remains a defining feature and draws attention from visitors worldwide.
