Guindy National Park

The park extends across 2.70 square kilometers of protected land containing scrublands, lakes, streams, and a cleared meadow called Polo Field.

Initially established as a game reserve in 1670, the Government of Madras purchased the land in 1821 and declared it a Reserve Forest in 1910.

The park functions as an educational center where local schools conduct field trips to teach students about environmental science and ecological studies.

Access to core areas requires accompaniment by a forest ranger, while the adjacent children's park and snake park maintain separate entry points.

Over 350 plant species grow within the park boundaries, including 24 tree varieties, supporting populations of 400 blackbucks and 2,000 spotted deer.
