Maharshi Dayanand University is a public institution in Rohtak, Haryana, offering programs across engineering, humanities, sciences, commerce, and legal studies. The site spans roughly 700 acres and houses lecture halls, research facilities, residential blocks, and open green spaces connected by a network of internal roads.
The institution opened in 1976 under the name Rohtak University and received its current title one year later in honor of religious reformer Dayananda Saraswati. Since then, it has steadily expanded its range of faculties and degree programs.
The campus functions as a self-contained educational town where faculty members and learners move along tree-lined pathways connecting different academic blocks. Small bookshops and tea stalls line the main routes, offering spots for conversation between classes.
Access is available through several gates that open at different times of day and guide pedestrian and vehicle movement. Signboards help locate buildings, with the library and central administrative offices positioned near the main entrance.
The sports facilities have produced several wrestlers and athletes who have competed at national and international levels. Some of these graduates have won medals at major competitions and brought their competitive experience into coaching roles.
