Coronation Park, Historical park in North Delhi, India
Coronation Park is a park in northern Delhi with stone monuments, paths and lawn areas used for walking and recreation. The grounds cover a wide area where sculptures and a central obelisk stand among trees and open spaces.
The site hosted the Delhi Durbar in December 1911 when the British king and his consort held their coronation celebration in India. After independence, numerous monuments from other parts of the country were gathered here.
The grounds preserve statues of British rulers and administrators relocated here after independence from their original sites across the country. Today visitors see a collection of sculptures that document how political symbols shifted in public space.
The nearest Civil Lines metro station sits about a kilometer away and offers access by public transport. Visitors find benches and shaded areas under trees that provide shelter on hot days.
A tall obelisk marks the spot where the proclamation was announced and serves as a central landmark in the park. The sculptures still carry their original inscriptions and dedications that recall colonial administration.
