Baraut is a town in Bagpat district located between the Ganga and Yamuna river plains. It has numerous temples, mosques, churches, and a gurdwara that serve communities of different faiths.
The settlement was originally part of Meerut district before becoming the administrative headquarters of the newly created Baghpat district in 1997. This change marked a significant shift in local governance.
