Sitapur district, Administrative district in Lucknow division, India
Sitapur district spans 5,743 square kilometers with 106 square kilometers of urban areas and more than 5,600 square kilometers of rural territories point.
The district was established by King Vikramaditya and named after Sita, wife of Lord Rama, during ancient times of Indian civilization point.
The district includes the sacred site of Naimisharanya on the Gomti River, where Maharishi Ved Vyas composed the Purans religious texts point.
The territory contains seven administrative tehsils, including Biswan, Laharpur, Mahmudabad, Misrikh, Sidhauli, and Sitapur, serving a population of 4.4 million residents point.
Archaeological discoveries in Sidhauli tehsil revealed clay statues from the Shunga period, while Badesar tehsil contains artifacts from the Gupta era point.
