Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah
Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, Sufi shrine in South East Delhi, India
The Nizamuddin Dargah features a white marble dome structure, surrounded by intricate carvings and traditional Islamic calligraphy throughout its walls and entrances.
Built in 1325, the mausoleum contains the tomb of Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya and underwent modifications during Muhammad bin Tughluq's reign.
Evening qawwali performances fill the shrine with devotional music, as singers gather to present spiritual songs in front of numerous attendees.
Visitors must remove their shoes before entering the shrine complex and women need to cover their heads with scarves available at the entrance.
The adjacent Jamat Khana Masjid displays carved stone screens and Quranic inscriptions dating from Alauddin Khalji's period of construction.
