Lohagarh Fort, State Protected Monument in Bharatpur, India
The Lohagarh Fort extends over 7 kilometers with thick mud walls designed to absorb artillery fire from attacking armies.
Built in 1732 by Maharaja Suraj Mal, the fortress withstood multiple British attacks, including a notable six-week siege in 1805 led by Lord Lake.
The fort houses three distinct palaces featuring Jat architectural elements, including the Mahal Khas, Kamra Palace, and Palace of Badan Singh.
The Kamra Palace section contains a museum displaying ancient Jain sculptures, traditional weapons, and manuscripts written in Arabic and Sanskrit.
The Ashtadhatu Gate incorporates eight different metals in its construction and features detailed carvings of war elephants on its rounded bastions.
