Ashoka University

The university is a higher education institution in Sonepat in Haryana state, roughly 60 km north of the capital. The buildings spread across a complex that holds lecture halls, student housing, and facilities for academic research.

The university opened in 2014 through a group of more than 200 people who brought their capital from different industries. That initial phase marked the building of a new kind of higher education institution meant to operate outside government funding.

Students from across India come together on the shared campus, bringing different languages and regional backgrounds into daily academic life. Women form the majority of the student body, which shapes the curriculum and campus activities in particular ways.

The campus sits in a planned education zone reachable by public transport or private vehicles from Delhi. Visitors should note that the site lies outside central Sonepat, which requires some planning for the journey.

Students choose their major and minor only in the middle of their second year, which gives them time to explore different fields before committing. That delay lets them make decisions with more experience and without early pressure.
