Bella Vista, Architectural structure in Hyderabad, India

Bella Vista is a white Indo-European palace in Saifabad, Hyderabad, with a flat roofline topped by a balustrade. Its projecting facade has a triangular pediment above a tall arched fanlight with radiating muntins, three rectangular windows below, and a large open archway at ground level. Inside, a hall has a pale ceiling, a chandelier with curved metal arms, a three-blade ceiling fan, polished dark wood floor, and a patterned rug under upholstered armchairs.

Muslehuddin Mohammed, bar-at-law and Chief Justice of the High Court of Hyderabad, built the palace as his residence in 1905 and lived there until his death from plague in 1914. His family sold it in 1916, and the last Nizam bought it with its furniture for Rs 60,000 in 1917. His heir Azam Jah, Prince of Berar, later lived here with Princess Durru Shehvar.

The structure serves as the Administrative Staff College of India, where civil servants and corporate leaders come to study and develop their skills. It functions as a significant learning hub for professionals working in governance and business.

The location is reachable by metro via Lakdikapul station, followed by a short walk through the Saifabad neighborhood. Visitors should note that the area is most active during business hours and it is better to explore the place during daytime.

Bella Vista was bought by the last Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, in 1917 for Rs 60,000 together with its furniture. Its name was given by its French architect because the house looks over Hussain Sagar lake. Muhammad Ali Jinnah visited the palace.
