Dwarka Sub City is a residential settlement in the South West Delhi district organized into numbered sectors with cooperative housing blocks that spread across several square kilometers. The area consists of midrise apartment buildings interspersed with wide roads, ground-floor shops, and small parks between the blocks.
The Delhi Development Authority began planning this residential settlement in the 1980s to meet the population growth of the capital. Agricultural land was gradually developed, and the first residents moved in during the early 1990s.
The settlement takes its name from an ancient city in Gujarat associated with Krishna in religious texts. Residents commonly speak Hindi and other regional languages, and the area becomes especially lively during Diwali and Holi, when people hang strings of lights on balconies and celebrate together.
Several metro stations connect the area with central Delhi and the international airport, making orientation straightforward. The sectors are labeled with numbers, so visitors can navigate easily using street signs.
The National Cyber Forensic Laboratory, a specialized facility for digital investigations, operates here and attracts professionals from across the country. A second diplomatic enclave is also developing in this district, designed to host embassies and consulates from various countries.
