Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration, Commerce college in Kolkata, India
Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration is a commerce and business school on Bepin Behari Ganguly Street in central Kolkata. The building rises five floors and contains classrooms, a floor-wide library, and administrative offices.
The institution was founded in 1903 as part of Presidency College and became a separate commerce institute in 1905. It moved to its present site in 1928, where it has stayed ever since.
The college takes its name from the Goenka family, who donated the land on which it stands. On campus, conversations between students often turn to commerce and business topics, reflecting the focus of everyday life here.
The building has elevators on every floor, so access is straightforward for all visitors. Public transport stops are nearby, and a cafeteria along with food stalls just outside offer a place to stop between visits.
The college was among the first in the city to offer commerce studies before the university officially recognized the subject. Every year on November 27, it marks its Foundation Day with an intercollegiate competition called Quest.
