Komrelly Mallanna Temple, Hindu temple in Siddipet district, India
Komrelly Mallanna Mandir is a Hindu temple in Siddipet district of Telangana, built in South Indian architecture with stone columns and relief work. The walls display figures from myths and deities in different poses, distributed across the entire courtyard and halls.
Villagers of the region founded the temple several centuries ago after experiencing visions they interpreted as divine signs. In later years craftsmen expanded the structure and added new halls where believers gather today.
The name Mallanna comes from local worship of a protective deity in the Telangana region, and the community maintains rituals passed down through generations. On festival days you see believers in traditional dress carrying flowers and coconuts while music groups sing old songs.
Buses run regularly from Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Warangal and bring visitors close to the temple, which sits about 56 miles (90 kilometers) from Hyderabad. Those arriving early in the morning experience a calmer setting and can observe the details of the stonework in peace.
During major festivals some believers walk barefoot over hot coals in an area beside the main halls, accompanied by drum rhythms. This practice is found in only a few places in the region and draws observers from surrounding villages.
