Mirik community development block

Mirik community development block extends across 119 square kilometers and contains twenty-one villages with a population of 46,374 residents according to census data.

The region transformed from marshlands into an administrative unit following the establishment of tea plantations and commercial development in the Darjeeling district.

The population includes Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian communities, with Nepali spoken by ninety-two percent of residents and Kurukh by three percent.

The block maintains seventy-eight primary schools, three health centers, and one rural hospital to serve the educational and medical needs of local residents.

Six gram panchayats operate within the block boundaries, including Chenga Panighata, Soureni, and Duptin, managing local governance and development initiatives.
