RCC Institute of Information Technology, Indian technology college
RCC Institute of Information Technology is an engineering college in the Beliaghata area of Kolkata, focused on computing and related technical fields. The campus is made up of several buildings housing classrooms and computer laboratories, with open outdoor spaces between them where students move and gather between sessions.
The institute was founded in 1999 as a joint effort between the central government of India and the government of West Bengal. In 2003, the state government of West Bengal took over full management and restructured several programs to reflect changes in the technology sector.
The RCC Institute of Information Technology draws students from across West Bengal who come together around shared interests in technology and computing. On campus, coding contests and technical fests are regular events where students from different years and disciplines mix and exchange ideas.
The campus in Beliaghata is well connected to public transit, making it reachable from most parts of the city without difficulty. Kolkata summers are very hot and humid, so it is worth carrying water and staying in covered areas when moving between buildings.
The institute holds a formal partnership with Intel, which is rare for a state-managed engineering college in West Bengal and gives students direct exposure to industry projects. This connection goes beyond classroom learning and shapes the kind of experience students carry into their first jobs.
