Aakkoor Thanthondreeswarar Temple

Aakkoor Thanthondreeswarar Temple rises above the village with its east-facing shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy, built in the traditional South Indian style. The temple began when a Chola King found a Shivalingam after hosting a meal for 999 people, with Lord Shiva himself taking the final seat in disguise. This founding legend has shaped the site's long history of worship and reverence.
