Gajlaxmi Palace stands on the slopes of Paniohala Hill, featuring ornate architectural designs and extensive gardens surrounding the main building structure.
The palace, constructed in the 1930s by Rajkumar Sreshesh Pratap Singh Deo, served as the official residence of the Bhoi dynasty of Dhenkanal princely state.
The palace interior contains numerous artifacts and photographs that document the traditions and lifestyle of the Dhenkanal royal family across generations.
Since 1992, the palace functions as a heritage homestay where guests can reserve rooms equipped with modern amenities while maintaining their historical character.
The palace grounds attract wild elephants and other forest animals, as the property borders natural woodlands frequented by local wildlife.
