Hanging Bridge at Chekaguda, Rayagada

The Chekaguda bridge extends 151 meters across the Nagavali River, connecting the central city of Rayagada with multiple rural communities at a height of 30 meters.

The construction of this infrastructure project began in November 2011 and reached completion in March 2012, with a total investment of 15 million Indian rupees.

The bridge serves 20,000 residents from nine panchayats, traditional local government units, enabling direct access to urban facilities and markets in Rayagada.

Located 3 kilometers from Rayagada railway station, the pedestrian bridge maintains a strict limit of eight people crossing simultaneously and requires no entrance fee.

Before the bridge construction, residents relied on a temporary bamboo structure and had to travel an additional 20 kilometers through Kolnara to reach Rayagada.
