Malik Alam's Mosque

Malik Alam's Mosque is a medieval place of worship in the Shah Alam area featuring a spacious interior supported by numerous columns and pillars throughout its layout. Five domes rise above the prayer hall, creating distinct sections within the main structure.

Construction began in 1422 when Malik Alam, a senior official at Sultan Ahmed Shah I's court, commissioned the building. The structure remained substantially unchanged until natural disasters affected its towers centuries later.

The interior features five marble prayer niches along the back wall that guide worshippers during daily prayers. These details remain visible and functional in the worship space today.

The mosque remains an active house of prayer with regular services throughout the day, serving the local Muslim community. Visitors should check prayer times in advance and dress respectfully to avoid interfering with worship.

The two original minarets collapsed during a major earthquake in 1819 and were subsequently taken down by the Public Works Department. This event permanently changed how the building appears from the outside.
