Ahmad Shah's Tomb

Ahmad Shah's Tomb is a square-shaped building topped by a central dome with four additional domes positioned at each corner. Inside, the walls display intricate carved stone screens that reflect the Islamic architectural style of the period.

The tomb was built for Ahmad Shah, who founded Ahmedabad as a capital city and ruled from 1411 to 1442. This period saw the city grow into a major trade hub in the region.

The tomb houses the remains of Ahmad Shah, his son Muhammad Shah II, and his grandson Qutb-ud-Din Ahmad Shah II in separate chambers.

The site is open daily and free to enter, making it an accessible destination for visitors. There are restrictions in certain interior areas, so it is helpful to ask staff about any access guidelines upon arrival.

The ninth generation of Naubat musicians performs traditional orchestral announcements daily at sunset and night from the drum room above the entrance.
