Calico Dome

Calico Dome is a textile showroom in Ahmedabad featuring a five-pointed geodesic structure supported by eight curved iron struts and steel pillars. The building spans about 12 meters in diameter and displays an unusual combination of double geodesic framework and space frame construction.

The structure opened in 1962 and served Calico Mills as a textile display space for decades. The company ceased operations in the late 1990s, marking the end of the dome's original commercial purpose.

The dome served as a venue for fashion presentations and textile exhibitions that shaped how people in the city viewed locally made fabrics. Visitors encountered new design ideas and production techniques displayed here that influenced local appreciation for textiles.
