Tala Bridge

Tala Bridge is a transportation crossing in North Kolkata that spans 750 meters and links multiple neighborhoods together. It features six steel arch structures and carries traffic over the Barrackpore Trunk Road while also passing above an important railway line.

The original structure was completely rebuilt in 2020 and reopened in September 2022 after a two-year construction period. This reconstruction was a major infrastructure project that replaced the earlier crossing with a modern design.

The bridge links separate neighborhoods and enables daily encounters between residents from different parts of North Kolkata. It has become an important meeting place where people cross between their communities and explore surrounding districts.

The bridge is accessible to various vehicle types, though current restrictions favor light vehicles. Visitors can expect steady traffic during peak hours and can view the structure throughout daylight hours.

A 240-meter section of the structure crosses directly over the Tala railway tracks and forms a central element of the transportation network. This combination of road and rail crossing makes it a notable technical feature of local infrastructure.
