Badhangarhi temple is a Hindu shrine located in the Tharali region of Chamoli district, positioned on a mountain at about 8 kilometers from Gwaldam township. The temple is reached on foot through forest paths and sits in a landscape surrounded by wooded terrain and mountain slopes.
The temple was built between the 8th and 12th centuries during the Katyuri dynasty period and became significant in the regional history. It was linked to conflicts between Garhwal and Kumaon territories in the 1670s.
